If you had been of the notion that the rift between two of Ghana’s Dancehall kingpins, Samini and Shatta Wale had been solved, then you may have to revise your notes and brace up for ‘interesting’ times ahead.
It was on GH One TV’s morning show GH Today somewhere last year that Samini endorsed Shatta Wale’s ‘Kakai’ hit track. Various reports and commentaries that followed the interview with Kafui Dey and Baisiwa Dowuona-Hammond created the impression that all was now well between the duo.
But Samini says he is not sure that the beef is over. He calls it a healthy one and suggests preparing to come out with reactions that will correct a number of misrepresentations by his rival.
“Lyrically, I’m not sure because there’s always something that’s not finished yet. There have been fabrications,” Samini told Berla Mundi on #RythmzLive Monday.
He continued: “There has been stuff said about me in his earlier quest to throw shots at me and get response. He said stuff about me that he lied – plenty like Samini said they shouldn’t put me on shows, Samini said I was doing this, Samini sabotaged me… And then you come back now and you want to sabotage VIP?
Samini further explained to Berla Mundi on #RythmzLive that he decided to compose his ‘Vextra’ single to address Shatta Wale’s attempt to cross his boundaries in a recent feud with Prodigal, a member of the VVIP group.
A little over a week ago, the two were engaged in social media exchanges after it emerged that the dancehall act was preparing to host a show in Nima, Accra alongside the traditional ‘Sallahfest’ organized by VVIP in that part of the capital.
